Is it already that time again? It’s like a mole of Christmas presents!
Obviously the big news of the past few weeks has been the pre-alpha footage, which we’ve covered in extreme depth with the journalistic vigour only the most shallow of websites could muster. Why do you come here?
There were also a few juicy tidbits in the two recent Spark engine Q&As posted on the NS2 dev blog. We’ve filtered the pulp and partially digested the remaining nutrients for you after the jump.
As always, the full megalist can be seen here.
- “Spark is the entire game engine and tool set we’re using to build Natural Selection 2. This includes the graphics, sound, networking, physics, scripting, path finding and effects system (probably others too). It also includes tools like the Editor, Builder, Viewer and Cinematic Editor.” -Max
- “Currently our engine and tools only work on Windows, and that will be the only platform Natural Selection 2 will be available on at release. However, most of the engine is not platform specific.” Mac support is possible, but is currently not on the plate for release due to time constraints. More in this Q&A.
- Steamworks is Windows specific, so Steam integration would obviously not work for a hypothetical Mac version.
- “Man, we’re cranking on the alpha! Our next goal is to release something small, polished and playable. It’s starting to come together!” -31st January 2010
- The Harvester
- Pre-alpha Footage
- Even more crappy analysis!
