PC gaming blog Rock Paper Shotgun have dished a few questions out to Flayra and he has diligently answered them! A sample:

Clearly the recent footage has sent gamers’ pulses a-racing – but how representative is it of what we’ll see in game? Will it really look that good?

Thanks! Yes, it really does look that good. We’re still optimizing and tweaking of course, but there’s no trickery there. There are a couple scripted bits in there that may not be part of the in-game experience like the Onos ducking through a door, the Onos moving slowly (he’s a playable character and no one wants to move that slowly!) and the metal flaps fluttering when the door is smashed, but I would say it’s very representative of the game.

Check out the full interview for the rest. Thanks to Trayder for the protip in our IRC channel!

In other news, AusNS2 now has a Twitter feed! We’ve already begun to fill it with trash and misinformation. Enjoy.

So yeah, slow week. Oh wait. Exploding out of nowhere like a suicide bomber, fragments of NS2 info have embedded themselves in our flesh. Let us reflect upon the past few days events while we writhe in agony and slowly bleed out. Good analogy, no? No?

It looks like 95% of total sales are for the US$40 Special Edition, which is pretty incredible. It made Flayra cry. Wipe away those tears with dollars bills, friend. Further comments in his NS E-Team email:

So far, sales have beyond our expectations and the response has been pretty amazing! Our community web-site is sporadically up and down due to huge traffic, but we’re working on that now.

For those of you that are worried about how your preorder will play with Steam, a special FAQ has been set up to answer your questions. It seems there’s still a bit of confusion around the whole thing but we’ll see what happens. Valve and UW tend to look after their customers in my experience.

Now on to this weeks megalist updates:

Enhance. ENHANCE! Our team of forensics experts here at AusNS have hopped off the catwalk just long enough to comb through the grainy NS2 teaser video with a UV light. Our computer programs bleeped and blooped impressively and yielded multiple clues. Join us as we descend in to the depths of baseless speculation.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Super Update: The HD trailer is out so I’ve updated all the screenshots with their high quality counterparts!

Update: NS2 level designer KungFuSquirrel informs me that we’ve missed something! A useless prize to whoever can find it.

NS2 Promo Site Live, Teaser Video
by Mr Charisma Thursday, 28th May, 2009 at 4:41 am under News [56 comments]

Finally, some NS2 news we can sink our teeth into! The UWE team have opened up the Natural Selection 2 promotion site, including a teaser trailer featuring in game footage. And, as a kicker, NS2 Pre-Orders are now available.

Update: Now in High Definition!

You can pre-purchase with access to the beta and NS2 tools NS2 for $20USD, or pre-purchase the NS2 Special Edition for $40USD, which features alpha and beta access, NS2 tools, and a sleek black marine armour to show off to all the nubs on release day. The promo site also features some concept art as well.

As always, if you want some information on NS2 you can check out the FAQ here, or if you are after some even more in depth information on NS2, check out our very own NS2 Mega List.

Two teams of up to 16 players face off with unique abilities in dynamic, evolving environments that change as you play. Watch spreading alien infestation deform hallways, then use a flamethrower to clear it. Cut the power to disable marine structures or weld a loading door shut for defense. No matter what side you choose, you’ll never play the same game twice!

Feel free to discuss the teaser video, and the promo site on our forums.

Looks like things are picking up. Next week should be exciting!

  • Skulk still has bite cam.
  • The Alien commander will probably handle things like upgrades differently to the marine commander, as seen in this mockup:
