Pretty slow week for NS2 news. Both updates this week have to do with audio:

The music of David John, who is working on music for NS2.
Tooltip sound from NS1 is back in NS2.

David John has some pretty cool tracks on his website. Check out “Machine Hymn” under Ambient in his download section for one that could fit in the NS universe.

AusNS Top Ten Week 3: Most Memorable Moment

Welcome to week 3 of the 54234 week long segment, AusNS Top Tens. This week we have decided to mix things up a little. We would like you to recount your most memorable moment in Natural Selection. This doesn’t have to be isolated to just in game events, it can be something strange that happened on IRC, or that thread that you can never forget from the Forums.

We’re not tallying votes this week, we are looking for something personal to you. At the end of the week, the admins and mods will select the most original and entertaining entries, and the winners will be announced and featured on the front page.

You can enter more than once if you like, but keep them relatively short. Anything more than two paragraphs and you’ll be pushing the attention span of the AusNS Staff to it’s limits.

So get typing!

We had close to 50 votes this week, which is an impressive effort. Thanks to everyone who contributed, there were some interesting discussions in the thread. The version changes throughout 1.x-3.x were brought up quite often, and probably affected quite a few choices. Unfortunately we couldn’t focus on specific versions in this weeks Top10, perhaps in the future!

Welcome to AusNS2!

Welcome to the official launch of AusNS2! We’ve already had a bunch of activity thanks to some judicious leaking by a man that will remain unnamed (Mr Charisma Mr Charisma Mr Charisma), but we’ve really only got the site feature-complete in the last few days. Welcome back to those of you from the first incarnation of AusNS and hello to anyone new!

We’ve already got a bunch of content rolling through the doors, most of it generated by the community! We hope we can keep the site pretty active as NS2 gets closer and closer, so make sure you participate in our weekly Top10 polls and whatever else we come up with in the mean time. This site exists as a platform for the Australasian NS2 community, so we’re more than happy to support any NS-related projects you guys undertake yourselves. If you have any suggestions for content you’d like to see, make sure you let us know.

In the mean time, make sure you check out our NS2 mmmmegalist to see what you have to look forward to. Don’t forget to stop by our forums and join us on IRC to celebrate the launch!

3 Things you should do this weekend

1. Get on IRC

Everyone’s doing it. We regularly have 50+ users online. IRC is a great way to organise a game of Natural Selection, or just spam general discussion.

2. Join the AusNS steam group

We play a lot of games other than Natural Selection! Jump in the Steam group and you’ll always have a few familiar faces to invite to your game of Left 4 Dead.

3. Register and participate on the forums

The greatest part of AusNS is our active forum, bringing the community together. Sign up, and go wild.
